One of our volunteers, Mr D from Southwater, won £25 in the Community Lottery on Saturday. Maybe £25,000 next time! Thank you to all our supporters and good luck for this Saturday’s draw.
We received a cheque yesterday for £681 from the Storrington branch of Waitrose. Customers supported Know Dementia by placing a token in the Community Matters box at the store and we did very well indeed. Thank you Waitrose and all your customers who supported us.
Fantastic session with Rosaria from Three Score Dance Company at our Hurst Cafe yesterday. We were also lucky to have a cheque for £328 presented to us by Chrissie and Becky from Freeman Brothers in the village. Chrissie and Becky gave out ice creams for a donation to Know Dementia at the Hurst Festival and the lovely people of Hurst were very generous with their donations. Thank you so much to everyone. The money will be used to support the Hurst Cafe.
Our musical talents got Ed from Movingsounds leaping into action at our Crowborough Cafe on Friday. Music sessions, such as those provided by#Movingsounds, are great for improving the mental and physical health of those living with dementia and their carers.
WELL DONE Jenny O for another excellent coffee morning raising over £700 for Know Dementia. Jennie has been running this coffee morning for five years and each year raises even more funds. Our thanks also go to Sam and Peter and all the other people who, helped and donated raffle prizes. All local money raised always goes towards helping the local Memory Moments Cafes in this case Uckfied and Buxted Cafes.
Recently we visited the WI in Framfield in order to talk about dementia. They laid on a beautiful, typical WI tea with lovely home made cakes. After our presentation they passed the bowl around and raised £114.00 which will go towards supporting the Uckfield Memory Moments Cafe. A very big thank you to all the ladies who supported Know Dementia from this WI.
The President of The Inner Wheel Club of Cuckfield and Lindfield, Vivien Peart, presented a cheque for £1700 at one of Know Dementia’s Memory Moments Cafes run in partnership with St Richard’s Church, Haywards Heath. Vivien is seen here presenting the cheque to Father Chris and his wife Carolyn who run two cafes a month at the church, as well as Jennie Morrison-Cowan, Trustee of Know Dementia. The joy of money raised locally is that it goes into the local community cafes which provide a community meeting place for families affected by dementia.
