Recently we visited the WI in Framfield in order to talk about dementia. They laid on a beautiful, typical WI tea with lovely home made cakes. After our presentation they passed the bowl around and raised £114.00 which will go towards supporting the Uckfield Memory Moments Cafe. A very big thank you to all the ladies who supported Know Dementia from this WI.
The President of The Inner Wheel Club of Cuckfield and Lindfield, Vivien Peart, presented a cheque for £1700 at one of Know Dementia’s Memory Moments Cafes run in partnership with St Richard’s Church, Haywards Heath. Vivien is seen here presenting the cheque to Father Chris and his wife Carolyn who run two cafes a month at the church, as well as Jennie Morrison-Cowan, Trustee of Know Dementia. The joy of money raised locally is that it goes into the local community cafes which provide a community meeting place for families affected by dementia.
A very big thank you to Stephanie, the Senior Staff Nurse at Harland Ward, Uckfield Hospital who called into our Memory Moments Cafe in Uckfield Civic Centre on Monday. Stephanie had helped to run a raffle through Harland Ward with many lovely prizes donated by friends and businesses earlier this year. They raised £210.00 and the photo shows Stephanie donating the money to Know Dementia and Alex, our Chair, receiving the donation. The joy of local donations is that any money raised always goes back into the community so this £210 will help support the Uckfield Memory Moments cafe. Thank you to everyone who helped Harland Ward to raise this donation.
Our feathered friends will be very happy with the bird feeders we made at our Southwater Cafe.
Come and join us at St Richards Church Hall, Haywards Heath on Saturday 5th January from 2pm and enjoy a fantastic afternoon of folk music with Tideway. We look forward to seeing you there.
ABN AMRO Finance have kindly donated £3800 to support the Know Dementia St Richards Memory Moments Café in Haywards Heath. The cheque was presented by representatives of ABN AMRO at the Café session on Tuesday 20th November to the Know Dementia Charity and St Richards Church. Know Dementia and St Richards Church work in partnership to provide the Café sessions which are held twice a month. The next two Cafés are on 18th December and 5th January and welcomes people with memory problems and their carers/family supporters. The Café provides a friendly meeting place with games, activities and entertainment which are enjoyed along with tea/coffee and cake.
Fr Chris Brading of St Richards Church commented:
‘it was great to welcome ABN AMRO Finance to St Richards Memory Moments Café and for them to experience one of the ways in which their generous donation will be put to good use in support of the fantastic and important work of the Know Dementia charity’
